Bryan Lara and Ricky Ponting express gratitude: Punjab player after beating Chennai.

Delhi: The 22nd match of IPL 2025 was played between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings. The match remained exciting till the last over, in which Punjab won. Batting first after winning the toss, Punjab scored 219 runs in 20 overs. Chasing a target of 220 runs, the Chennai Super Kings team could score 201 runs in 20 overs. Thus, Punjab Kings defeated Chennai by 18 runs. For Punjab, Priyansh Arya scored 103 runs, while Shashank Singh scored an unbeaten 52 runs.

Shashank Singh’s view on batting

After winning the match against Chennai, Shashank Singh said that when he went to bat, our team had lost five wickets around 90 runs. His plan was to try to score maximum runs by taking minimum risk. His main objective was to give maximum strike to Priyansh. Shashank said that the way Priyesh was batting, he was confident that if he batted for 15-16 overs, we would get close to 200 runs, and 200 runs on this pitch were a good score.

Mentality at the time of batting

Shashank said about his batting time and said that when you get into the field, you do not think about your previous performance or future. Your focus is only on the bat and ball. His goal was to remain on the wicket and maximize his scoring.

Inspiration from Lara and Ponting

Shashank praised Lara sir and said that he explained to him about his batting in a very good way. Lara sir told him how he should carry forward his innings while batting. Shashank also said that he is not a normal power-hitter, but he is a batsman to time the ball. He also realizes that he is lucky that Ricky Ponting is with him. Shashank said that he was unable to perform well in the nets before the IPL, but Ricky Sir trusted him and supported him, for which he is grateful to him.

Happiness on Priyansh’s success

Shashank said about Priyansh that in the first match, when Priyesh played against GT, he showed his ability. Shashank said that Priyansh does the same for his state team and now he is doing this in the IPL too. He is happy that seeing the young player like Priyansh, the future of Indian cricket seems bright.

Team’s strength and mentality

Shashank said about the team that we have a very strong team. We see every match as a new match. The team looks very strong on the paper, but we need to win those important moments and always play in the present.
