Delhi: The Indian team may have lost the Test series against Australia, but Jasprit Bumrah created a new history with his performance. Bumrah created a sensation in the cricket world by taking a total of 32 wickets in the series. He was given the title of Player of the Series for his excellent bowling. Bumrah not only equaled Harbhajan Singh as the bowler taking the most wickets in a series in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but also made a new record for taking the most wickets in a series in Australia.
Bumrah has now become the only Indian bowler who has won the title of ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the Test series played in England, South Africa and Australia. This feat had neither been done by any Indian bowler nor by any Indian batsman till now. This is a historic achievement for Bumrah.
Let us tell you that Bumrah bowled a total of 151.2 overs and took 32 wickets in the series. He took wickets at an average of just 13.06 and took five wicket hauls thrice and four wicket hauls twice.
Australia created history in Sydney
It is noteworthy that this is the first time in the history of Test matches between India and Australia in Sydney, when a team has successfully chased the target in the fourth innings and won. Kangaroos made this record by defeating India by 6 wickets.
