Captain Gill sees Pant as wise: Disappointed after ENG vs IND defeat?

Delhi: In the third Test played at Lord’s, India suffered a 22 -run defeat against England. After the match, Indian captain Shubman Gill praised his team’s efforts and said that he is proud of his team’s combative spirit. But, he also admitted that the match got out of hand due to missing some important opportunities.

Gill told the big reason for defeat

Shubman Gill said that if India had to win the match, then just two 50-50 runs had to be made partnerships. However, the team could not do this. He said that Rishabh Pant’s run out was very heavy. If he was not out, India could have got a lead of 70–80 runs in the first innings and India would not have to chase 200 runs on a difficult pitch on the fifth day.

When Gill was asked if some players were paying more attention to their personal achievements, they said that it was a fault of a decision. Pant’s run out was unfortunate. Gill said, “If you see, KL Rahul himself was at non-strayer end.”

Shubman said on Jadeja’s batting

Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten innings of 61* runs and fought till the last with Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj. On this, the Indian captain said that Jadeja took the right decision in view of the situation and the strategy of not playing a big shot was fine. The team did not send any special message to him. He batted very well with the tales.

What did Gill say about the series?

Talking about the series, Shubman said that we played good cricket for most days, but whatever sessions were bad, they proved to be very harmful. For this reason, two matches were lost. Seeing the scorecard, people might not understand how well we have played.

The next Test between India and England will now be played in Manchester from July 23.
