Delhi: The Pakistan cricket team’s performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 (ICC Champions Trophy) was very disappointing. Mohammad Rizwan’s captaincy team was eliminated from the tournament after losing both their matches against New Zealand and India. Due to this poor performance, the players had to face severe criticism of fans and cricket experts.
However, Pakistan’s interim head coach Aqib Javed refused to criticize the batsmen for poor performance. Some media reports claimed that they used abusive words towards the players, but they clarified that they do not believe in such culture.
Aqib Javed said, “I do not scold the players at all, because in our culture, teachers scold, kill and coaches do the same.” But, I do not believe in it. I respect the players and want to help them. You can practice them as much as you want, but I am not a person who tries to improve someone. ”
Javed also admitted that Pakistan’s ‘slow scoring rate’ has become a big challenge for the team. He said that teams should play according to the circumstances instead of setting any goals in advance.
Giving examples, he said, “We play with things, but like the target of 220 was far away in the T20 World Cup and we could not even score 120 runs. Overall, we scored around 150–125, while there was no need to score 250 runs. We need to improve our game and continuity is necessary for this. “
After Pakistan’s disappointing performance, the team will now need to make major changes in their game.
