Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is going to take a big decision on the schedule of Champions Trophy 2025 on 29 November. However, the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan has increased uncertainty over this tournament. There is a dispute between BCCI and PCB regarding India’s refusal to go to Pakistan and the hybrid model.
AUS vs IND: Shubman Gill will not even play Adelaide Test, may be out of next 2 matches also!
Pakistan has got the hosting rights of Champions Trophy 2025, but the PCB is very angry with India’s decision not to go there. PCB has opposed the hybrid model, in which some matches could have been held at neutral locations. Recently, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said that he is ready to give guarantees to address India’s security concerns, but the hybrid model is not acceptable to him.
According to Sports Tak, ICC has called an emergency meeting involving representatives of BCCI and PCB along with other boards. The main objective of this meeting to be held on November 29 is to discuss the match between India and Pakistan as well as the group stage of the tournament.
Will Champions Trophy be held without Pakistan?
If PCB does not accept the hybrid model, then the entire tournament can be shifted out of Pakistan. South Africa is being seen as an alternative host. At the same time, if Pakistan withdraws from hosting, then the Champions Trophy can also be held without Pakistan.
It is noteworthy that PCB had included POK in the Trophy Tour, but after BCCI’s complaint, ICC changed the schedule. Now the trophy will be displayed in different cities of India between 15th to 26th January and will return to Pakistan on 27th January.
Now everyone’s eyes are fixed on November 29, when the final decision on this dispute will come.
