Delhi: The dispute between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) regarding hosting of Champions Trophy 2025 is deepening. PCB had said that if India does not come to play in Pakistan, then they will also refuse to play in India in the tournaments organized by BCCI in future. BCCI has made its message clear on this.

BCCI’s opposition

BCCI has clearly given a message to ICC on this issue that there is no security threat in India and there is no point in accepting this demand of PCB. BCCI also said that it is not right to reach a consensus on the hybrid model.

What is the whole matter?

Under the hybrid model, some Champions Trophy matches to be held in Pakistan will be played at neutral venues, so that India does not need to go to Pakistan and play. But, regarding this model, PCB has put a condition that if India does not come to play on their soil, then Pakistan will also not be a part of the tournaments organized in India.

Big tournaments are going to be held in India

Many big tournaments are going to be held in India in the coming times. These include the Women’s ODI World Cup next year, the T-20 World Cup with Sri Lanka in 2026, the Champions Trophy in 2029 and the ODI World Cup in 2031. BCCI has emphasized that no question can be raised on hosting such big tournaments in India.

This controversy has created a new challenge for the ICC, and now it remains to be seen what decision is taken in this matter.
