Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to make some changes in the rules of cricket. The ICC sent a message to all its members that these new rules will be applicable from June in Tests and from July in white ball cricket (ODI and T20).
There will be many new rules in ODIs
The biggest change is going to happen in ODI International. These rules have been told about the outbreak, DRS and backup players associated with the ball.
Change in use of new balls
- Till now, two new balls were used from both ends in an innings. But, according to the new rule, now both balls will run for the first 34 overs in an innings.
- After this, only one ball from the 35th over will be used from both ends.
- After the completion of 34 overs and before the start of the 35th over, the fielding team will have to choose one of the two balls.
- If for some reason the match is of 25 overs or less, then only one ball will be used from the beginning.
- The ball which will not run after 34 overs will be kept in the reserve.
Names of 5 backup players will have to be told
- Apart from this, now every team will have to mention the names of 5 backup players before the match so that conversion replacement can be done.
- It will include 1 batsman, 1 wicketkeeper, 1 fast bowler, 1 spinner and 1 all -rounder. If the replacement player is also injured, the match referee can choose a new option.
Catch and DRS rules will also be changed on the boundary line, but its full details will be given later.
A working group will be formed soon
Earlier it was believed that these changes would be sent to a working group. But, now the Chief Executive Committee of ICC has approved them. A working group will also be formed soon, which will decide whether the under-19 World Cup will be played in T20, 50 overs or hybrid format. The group is expected to be formed before the annual meeting to be held in Singapore from 17 to 20 July.
WTC final will be according to the old rule
