Delhi: Fans from all over the world are very excited about the return of cricket in the Los Angeles Olympics (LA28) to be held in 2028. In a conversation with India Today, Waugh said, “As soon as it was announced to join the cricket Olympics, China started preparing its team. They are completely serious to win gold.”
He further said, “T20 is very big now. Its business is billions of dollars and it is growing every day. Test cricket will definitely survive, but in future T20 will be dominated. Players will be mainly contracted by franchises. Perhaps may also have to be taken to play Test matches.”
Cricket involved in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics
Cricket was last played in the 1900 Paris Olympics, that is, after the entire 128 years, cricket is now joining the Olympics. Six teams will participate in both men and women classes in the 2028 Olympic cricket tournament. Each team will have 15 players and will be played in T20 format. The event will also prove to be a major step for the development of cricket in America, especially after the T20 World Cup successfully held in 2024.
