Delhi: Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been dropped from the playing eleven in the fifth and last Test match of the ongoing five-match Test series between India and Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been made the captain in place of Rohit Sharma. Rohit was dropped due to poor form, as he has scored only 31 runs in 5 innings in this series. Jasprit Bumrah took the field as captain in the Sydney Test.
Navjot Singh Sidhu’s anger
Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has expressed his anger over this decision. He shared a video on his social media account. Sidhu said, “Rohit Sharma is a great player who has done a lot for Indian cricket. Whether he is in good form or bad form, it does not matter. There is no alternative to the captain, but still his ouster gives a wrong message.” Sidhu also said that it seems that there may be personal differences between coach Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma.
A Captain should never be dropped midstream nor given the option to opt out … sends wrong signals …. Have seen Captain s like Mark Taylor , Azharuddin etc persisted as captain for a year despite bad form …. @ImRo45 deserved more respect and faith from the management…… pic.twitter.com/OJcSF9r3fU

Captain should never be seated
Sidhu took a strong stand, saying, “No captain should ever be dropped, especially when he is the captain who has built the team, who has inspired the players, and who has always been a mentor and father figure to the young players. Plays a role. The captain should never be separated from his team, even if he is going through a difficult phase. This is a wrong decision.”
