Delhi: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar gave a passionate message to his mother on the occasion of Mother’s Day on Sunday and said that her mother has always been like anchor for her. Posting on Twitter, Sachin wrote, “Whatever I am, it started with his prayers and his strength. My came has always been my anchor, like every mother is for her child. Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers!”
In 2017, during the release of a song from the film “Sachin: A Billion Dreams”, Sachin revealed that his mother, Raja Tendulkar, started shouting the famous ‘Sachin Sachin’. Sachin had said, “My mother started it. I used to play down and call me ‘Sachin Sachin’ to call me home.”
He further said, “I never thought that ‘Sachin Sachin’ (Chilla) will continue even after my play. Now it has reached the theater too. So I am happy.”
On Sunday, the Indian team’s great batsman Virat Kohli also paid tribute to his mother and wife Anushka Sharma on Mother’s Day. Posting on Instagram, he wrote, “All the mothers of the world were Happy Mother’s Day. I was born from a mother as a son and saw a mother, who has become a strong, nurtured, loving and protected mother for our children. We love you more every day, Anushka Sharma.”
Former Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh posted, “Mothers do not always ask for much, but they give everything – love, strength, patience and a kind of selflessness, which keeps the families connecting. I am lucky that I have grown with it and still surrounded it every day. Happy Mother’s Day! Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you all.”
Team India’s star all -rounder Akshar Patel wrote, “The spirit of becoming a mother… and mother’s Mamta – both saluted me today. One handed me over, the other is my son. Both are my world. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Significantly, Mother’s Day was previously known as ‘Mothering Sunday’ (according to early Christian practices), and it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.
