Delhi: Tamil Nadu spinner Sai Kishore has been performing brilliantly in domestic cricket for years, but in the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has now got a real opportunity. The 28 -year -old bowler has taken 192 wickets in 46 matches so far in first class cricket. When he was with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL, he did not get much chance to play in 2020 and 2021. After this, his luck did not change in the beginning even after joining Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2022.
But, this time the story of Sai Kishore has completely changed in IPL 2025. Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and coach Ashish Nehra expressed confidence in him and gave a chance in every match. This is the reason why he remains the main bowler of the team in place of an experienced spinner like Washington Sundar.

Sai Kishore has so far maintained the trust of the team by taking 14 wickets in 11 matches. The special thing is that he did not even get a chance to bowl more than two overs several times, yet he redeemed every opportunity. He was asked to bowl less against the left -handed batsmen, but still he dodged players like Venkatesh Iyer and Krunal Pandya.
In a media conversation on Thursday, Sai Kishore said that the Gujarat Titans is the first team that gave him a chance to play in the true sense. “I was in CSK for two years, but never landed on the field. Gujarat showed confidence in me. Here the players are given freedom to play openly. Shubman Gill and Ashish Nehra also want that no one is afraid. When you play like this, they automatically become the match winner.”

Gujarat Titans are currently on top of the points table under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. The team has scored 16 out of 11 points. Shubman himself has been the star of the team by scoring more than 500 runs. Along with him, Sai Sudarshan and Jose Butler have also scored more than 500 runs this season.
Speaking on Gill’s captaincy, Sai Kishore said, “Shubman is not just a good batsman, but also a sensible captain. He always keeps reading the game and gives the right advice to the spinner like me, which helps.”
Regarding Ashish Nehra, the young spinner said, “No player in the team can be negligent while Nehra ji. He always says that he has to do better. Whether we win or lose, they speak directly where to improve.”
He said, “I have always got less opportunities in IPL, so I prepare for every batsman before every match. That is why Hardik Bhai calls me a scientist.”
