Delhi: Sri Lankan all -rounder Dasun Shanaka is caught in controversies. The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has launched an investigation against him, as he is accused of an excuse for injury to avoid domestic matches, so that he could play in the ILT20 for Dubai Capitals.

Shanaka, who has been a former Sri Lankan White-Ball captain, played the first two days of the three-day match of the Major League tournament between the Sinhilis Sports Club (SSC) and the Moore Sports Club. However, it is now alleged that the match referee Vendel Labroy was misled, so that a substitute player could get approval for Shanaka.

SLC CEO Ashley de Silva told Espncricinfo, “SSC (Sinhalese Sports Club, First Class Club of Shanaka) will also investigate the matter on its behalf.”

Shanaka played in ILT20

Shanaka was one of the three players who were called back by SSC for this match, as the club had to avoid relaxation. He bowled 21 overs in the first two days and then scored an unbeaten 39 on the second day. On the third day, before leaving the field, he completed 123 runs in 87 balls.

However, he did not bowl in the second innings of Moles and remained unavailable for the whole day. But a few hours later, he was seen playing for Dubai Capitals in LT20 and scored 34 runs in just 12 balls. It was then appreciated as his commitment to cricket, as he played despite such a busy schedule.

After this, Shanaka played three more matches in the ILT20 and scored 21 runs in 10 balls, chasing a target of 190 against Desert Wiper in the final, which helped his team win the title.
