Delhi: Team India lost by 5 wickets in the first Test match between India and England in Leeds. After this, the ICC has released the latest Test rankings on 25 June. In this new rankings, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and England opener Ben Docket have benefited a lot.
Rishabh achieved career best ranking
Rishabh Pant performed brilliantly in the Leeds Test and scored centuries in both innings (134 and 118 runs). He has become only the second wicketkeeper in Test history to do so. Earlier, this feat was done by Andy Flower of Zimbabwe in 2001. The impact of this magnificent batting of Pant was also seen on the ranking. He has climbed one place up to seventh, which is the highest ranking of his Test career so far.
Ben Docket also got reward
England opener Ben Docket was also adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for a brilliant innings of 62 and 149 runs in the Leeds Test. He benefited five places in the ranking and now he has reached number eight, which is his best Test rankings so far.
England batsman Oli Pope has climbed up three places to 19th and Jamie Smith has climbed up to 27th position. India’s captain Shubman Gill, who scored a century in the first innings of the Leeds Test, has also come up five places to come at number 20.
Bumrah and Root’s reign remains intact
In the Test batting rankings, England’s Joe Root remains first and Harry Brook remains second. Jasprit Bumrah of India remains at the top in the Test bowling rankings. He took 5 wickets in the first innings of the Leeds Test.
England all -rounder Ben Stokes has also benefited in the list of all -rounders. He performed well with the bat and ball in the Leeds Test, due to which he has come up at number 5 to climb three places.
