Delhi: Mitchell Owen has been included in the Punjab Kings (PBKS) team for the remaining season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After the Australian all -rounder was out of Glenn Maxwell’s tournament, PBKS connected the team for Rs 3 crore. Maxwell was out due to fracture in finger.
Owen got a chance in IPL
According to initial reports, it was being said that Owen will first fulfill his responsibilities on behalf of Peshawar Zalmi, headed by Babar Azam in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), will join the IPL only then. But 23 -year -old Owen has left the tournament in the middle despite the hopes of qualifying the PSL playoffs.
Both IPL and PSL were stopped in the middle due to the ongoing border-disputes between India and Pakistan, but now both these tournaments are starting again from May 17.

Great performance in Big Bash League
Owen caught everyone’s attention by performing brilliantly in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. He scored the most runs playing for Hobart Hurricanes and played a key role in winning the BBL title for the first time.
39 balls century
In the BBL final, Owen scored a century in just 39 balls and scored 108 runs in 42 balls, including 6 fours and 11 sixes. His innings achieved the target of 183 runs against Sydney Thunder with only 35 balls remaining.
In PSL 2025, Owen scored an average of 14.57 in seven innings for Peshawar Zalmi and 102 runs at a strike rate of 192.45. Apart from this, he also participated in the SA20 2025 for Parl Royals.
Will start on 17 May
Meanwhile, PBKS is far away from reaching the playoffs. Currently, the team of Kabiz Shreyas Iyer’s team in third place in the points table will be held on Sunday, 18 May at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur with Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The next phase of the IPL will begin on 17 May between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
