Delhi: Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has now reached its last round and meanwhile Indian veteran MS Dhoni has broken the silence on the ongoing news about his retirement. In the match played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to register the third win of the season. In this match, Dhoni scored an unbeaten 17 off 18 balls and won the team in the last over.
What Dhoni said on retirement?
Dhoni, 43, spoke openly about his future planning after the match. He admitted that fans come to see him in a large number of stadiums because no one knows when Dhoni will go to the field for the last time. Dhoni also indicated that if his body supports, he can also play in 2026.
Dhoni said, “This is love and belonging that I have got everywhere. I am 43 years old and have been playing for a long time. People do not know whether it will be my last year or not. I play only two months in a year. After the IPL is over, I have to see if my body can face this pressure or not. There is no decision on retirement, but the love that loves is, it is a wonder.”
In this season, Dhoni has faced a lot of criticism for captaincy and batting. After Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured, Dhoni again took over the captaincy. However, he has played an important role in the three wins of CSK and returned unbeaten every time, especially his contribution to the victory against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and KKR was special.
Chennai Super Kings now have two matches left in IPL 2025. The first match will be played on May 12 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Chennai and second against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad.
