Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) was very disappointing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2025. CSK lost by 5 wickets in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Chepock Stadium. Batting first in the match, Chennai’s team was all out for 154 runs. In response, Hyderabad achieved the target in 18.4 overs. Ishaan Kishan scored 44 runs. Kamindu Mendis won the team by scoring 32 unbeaten and Nitish Reddy scored 19 runs.
For CSK, Dewald Bravis scored 42 runs in 25 balls. Ayush Mhatre also played a good innings of 30 runs off 19 balls. The rest of the batsmen were seen struggling.
Harshal Patel performed amazing for Hyderabad in bowling. He took 4 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs. Captain Pat Cummins also bowled 2 wickets while bowling brilliantly.
What did Dhoni say after the defeat?
After the match, Dhoni said, “We were losing wickets again and again. The pitch was a bit better in the first innings. 157 runs were not enough. There was no special turn in the pitch, there was a little slow. In the second innings, the spinners got a little help, but we were less than 15-20 runs.”
Dhoni further said, “Ayush batted brilliantly. We needed the same kind of innings in the middle order. During the spinners, you either have to play the right shot or choose the right area. This thing we want to improve because the middle overs are very important.”
Finally, the captain said, “We struggle a little when the spinners arrive, this is a time when we should either stop and try to play a big shot. I think we are decreasing here and are not able to really dominate or score runs against the spinners at a good speed in the middle.”
This was CSK’s seventh defeat in 9 matches, due to which the team points table remains at tenth position.
