When Rathi took the wicket of Abhishek Sharma in the match, he did a ‘notebook celebration’. Seeing this, Abhishek got angry and moved towards Rathi. The stated between the two was heard. Later the umpire and the rest of the players came in the middle and pacified the matter.

Ban on Digvesh
BCCI found Digvesh guilty of violating the Code of Conduct of the IPL. He got a 50 percent fine of the match fee and a match ban. This was Rathi’s third level 1 offense under Article 2.5 this season. He had earlier received a demerit point against Punjab Kings on 1 April and two demerit points against Mumbai Indians on 4 April. Even then he had done the same celebration.
BCCI had earlier shown softening about this celebration, but due to repeated doing so and sending Abhishek in anger, a strict decision was now taken. This time, after getting two more demerit points, Digvesh was banned a match. Now he will not be able to play the match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on 22 May 2025.
Abhishek Sharma was also found guilty
SRH opener Abhishek Sharma has also been punished for this quarrel. He had argued with anger towards Rathi. BCCI has also held him guilty of violating the IPL Code of Conduct. He has received 25 percent fine of match fees and a demerit point.
BCCI’s statement said that this was Abhishek Sharma’s first level 1 offense in this season and demerit points were given the same for this reason. The decision of the match referee in Level 1 violation is considered to be the last.
