Delhi: India’s proposed Bangladesh tour in August is currently uncertain. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official Aminul Islam has informed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet officially confirmed the visit. He informed that the BCCI is discussing with the Government of India in this regard and a final decision will be taken after that.
Speaking to reporters after the BCB board meeting in Dhaka, Islam said, “I have spoken to the BCCI and the discussion has been positive. We hope that the tour will be on time, but at the moment they are waiting for some important decisions of the government.”
He further said, “The conversation is going on and if for some reason they are unable to come in August, we will definitely visit the next suitable time. We are expecting to play in this window. BCCI is a professional and partner organization, and we are satisfied by working with them.”
Significantly, BCB released a schedule of India’s tour of Bangladesh in April, in which six white balls were to be played in August. Three ODI matches are proposed on 17, 20 and 23 August, while T20 matches are proposed on 26, 29 and 31 August. All these matches were to be held in Mirpur and Chittagong.
This will be India’s first bilateral T20 International Series in Bangladesh. Also, this is the first time since 2014, when the Indian men’s team will visit Bangladesh for only white ball series.
