Delhi: The Indian cricket team, captained by Rohit Sharma, will field against Bangladesh in their first match of the Champions Trophy on 20 February 2025. The match will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, where Team India will play all its league matches.

Big update on Dubai pitch

This time some changes have been made on the Dubai pitch for the Champions Trophy. Dubai’s pitch is usually slow and helps spin bowlers here, but this time two new pitches have been prepared for the tournament.

Speaking to PTI, a source said, “DICS (Dubai International Cricket Stadium) has 10 match strips. During the league stage there was instructions that those two would no longer be used and need to keep them fresh for the Champions Trophy. However, it is not known whether any of the two were used for the playoffs. The idea is to ensure that it does not reduce and slow down after excessive use and the matches are not drawn. The fresh pitch will provide equal support to both batsmen and bowlers. ”

Three matches in Dubai

Three important league matches in the Champions Trophy for Team India will be held in Dubai. These matches will be played on 20 February (India vs Bangladesh), 23 February (India vs Pakistan), and 2 March (India vs New Zealand). Last year, important tournaments like Women’s T20 World Cup, Mains Under-19 Asia Cup and LT20 League were played in Dubai. There have been 15 matches in Dubai International Cricket Stadium so far, including two knockout stage matches.

Spinners dominate

Five spinners have been included in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2025. Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakraborty are part of the Indian team. In the first match, Jadeja, Akshar and Kuldeep Yadav are likely to be included in the playing-11, as these three spin bowlers can play a big role with their spin on Dubai pitch.
