Delhi: During the third Test match of the series played between India and Australia at Gabba, a video quickly caught attention on social media. This video was of great batsman Virat Kohli and legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. It was claimed that during this match itself, Ashwin had informed Kohli about his decision of retirement. Shortly after this, Kohli became emotional on Ashwin’s retirement and shared the post on social media.

Kohli wrote, “I have played cricket with you for 14 years, but when you told me that you are retiring, I became emotional. All the old memories came alive in front of me. Ash (Ashwin), I have enjoyed every moment with you. End of a brilliant career of 14 years
38-year-old Ravichandran Ashwin suddenly announced his retirement from international cricket after the Gabba Test. Although, he was not a part of the playing eleven of this test, but his decision was shocking for everyone. Ashwin served Indian cricket for 14 years. He was an important member of the team that won the 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. Ashwin took 537 wickets and 3,503 runs in 106 tests. His best bowling performance was 7/59 and best batting score was 124. In ODI, he took 156 wickets in 116 matches and in T20, he took 72 wickets in 65 matches.
Ravichandran Ashwin created many memorable moments for the Indian team in his illustrious career. With his retirement an era of Indian cricket has ended. Fans and fellow players will always remember him as a legend.
