ENG Vs IND: Demand to take Sai Sudarshan to number 3 in the fourth Test, Sanjay Manjrekar supports

Delhi: Former India cricketer and current commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has advocated playing Sai Sudarshan at number three in the fourth Test against England in Manchester. Sudarshan had a chance to debut in the first Test but was dropped from the playing XI after 0 and 30 runs innings.

Karun Nair did not get much benefit

Instead of Sudarshan, Team Management gave Karun Nair a chance to bat at number three, who returned to the team after about five years. But Nair could not score a single half -century in four innings. He made a good start, but did not succeed in turning him into a big innings.

Manjrekar advised to try Sudarshan again

Sanjay Manjrekar said that Sai Sudarshan should get a chance again because he had shown some possibilities in his second innings. He said, “After the first Test, Sai Sudarshan was the number 3 for me. He had shown some glimpse in the 30 -run innings. When you have a flat pitch and weak bowling of England, you would like to give a chance to a young player. I did not feel right to feed Karun Nair at number three. Perhaps the team management was trying to prove someone, but I would like to see Sai Sudarshan on number three in the next match.”

Nair’s performance faded

Karun Nair has so far scored just 131 runs in 6 innings in the series and has an average of 21.83. His best score has been 40. In such a situation, it is believed that the team can change the management batting line-up, especially when India could not achieve the target of 193 runs in the second innings of the fourth Test and is 1-2 behind in the series.

Injuries increased team problems

The concern of injuries before the fourth Test for India has also increased. All -rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and fast bowler Arshdeep Singh are out of this match. Nitish has suffered a knee injury, while Arshdeep will not be able to play due to a hand injury. Apart from this, fast bowler Akash Deep is also struggling with Grin Injury and his playing is not yet decided.
