He played 13 Tests and 25 ODIs for England between 1979 and 1991. He scored 498 runs in Tests and 591 runs in ODIs. He also has an international century. He is considered to be the veteran of the County Team Northamptonshahar where he scored 27,142 runs in 482 first -class matches.
Earlier, the players also wore a black band on 1, 3 and 5 on the first Test played in Leeds. At that time this tribute was given in memory of the victims of Ahmedabad plane crash and David Lawrence and Dilip Doshi.
Talking about the match, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bowl first. England’s team has landed with the first Test winner playing XI.
