Delhi: The cricket boards of both the countries have taken a historic decision regarding the three-match Test series between New Zealand and England starting from November 28. Now this series will be known as “Crowe-Thorpe Trophy”. This name has been kept in honor of the great New Zealand batsman Martin Crowe and the legendary England batsman Graham Thorpe.
IPL 2025: The tournament will start from March 14, the final will be played in Kolkata on May 25!
The first Test match will be played in Christchurch, where this new trophy will be officially unveiled. On this special occasion, the families of Crowe and Thorpe will also be present, who will be honored for the contribution of both the cricketers.
Martin Crowe scored 5444 runs in 77 Test matches for New Zealand in his career, which included 17 centuries. In ODI, he scored 4704 runs in 143 matches and scored four centuries. On the other hand, Graham Thorpe scored 6744 runs in 100 Tests for England, which included 16 centuries. In ODI, he played 82 matches and scored 2380 runs in his name.
This trophy is a symbol of the memory of these great batsmen of cricket history and strengthening the cricket relations between the two countries.
