Delhi: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Thursday, October 17, that transgender women will no longer be able to participate in the top two tiers of women’s domestic cricket or the Women’s Hundred. Earlier, international organizations of many other sports like cycling, swimming and athletics have also effectively banned transgender players.

“We recognize that transgender participation is a complex topic with many different views and it is difficult for us to balance all views,” the ECB said in a statement.

He further said, “We want everyone to be a part of our game and feel good. “Under the current policy, any transgender woman can play for a professional club or England team, provided she has written approval.”

ICC had also taken a big decision

Apart from this, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had banned transgender women from playing in women’s international cricket in November 2023. The ICC says it wants to maintain the safety and fairness of the women’s game.
