Delhi: England captain Harry Brook has started his white-ball captaincy in a strong manner. He has won all the six matches played so far, including a 3–0 ODI series against the West Indies and the 3–0 T20I series. With this, the new era of England seems to be beginning under the captaincy of Brook.
England head coach Brendon McCullum said a lot about the captaincy of the 26 -year -old star batsman. He said, “These two weeks are excellent, whenever there is a change, you have expectations in your mind what can be achieved. Sometimes the results look quickly, sometimes it takes time. But, in the last two weeks we clearly saw in which direction Harry Brook wants to take this team. It is a blueprint for his captaincy. It is a very positive sign.”
The previous round was disappointing for England
England’s last major victory came as the 2022 T20 World Cup. Subsequently, the team failed to save the ODI World Cup title in India in 2023 and then gave a disappointing performance in the United States (USA) – T20 World Cup in West Indies. Due to this, coach Matthew Mota was dismissed. England could not reach the semi -finals even in the ICC Champions Trophy. After this Jose Butler left the captaincy and Brook was made the new white-ball captain of England.
McCullum said that he allowed Brook to captain it in his own way. He told, “I allowed them to find my own way. They do not complicate things, this is a big art. His simplicity, calm nature and clear thinking also affects the rest of the players. He has captained many teams before, and there are also friends in the team, who understand their style.”
The former Kiwi team captain further said, “We have not won the world yet, but these are a great start for two weeks. This is a positive sign for further.”
Let us know that England will now play the next white Ged series in September, when they will clash against South Africa and Ireland. After this, the England team will visit New Zealand under Brook’s captaincy, where they will participate in the ODI and T20 series.
