England-India series will be given in the name of Anderson and Tendulkar: veteran bowler reacted

Delhi: India’s veteran fast bowler James Anderson is in discussion these days as there have been reports of the name of the Test series between India and England being named after him and Sachin Tendulkar. Although it has not yet been officially confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) or Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Anderson is very happy with this honor.

Anderson told Sachin a source of inspiration

In an interview, Anderson said, “This is a great honor for me. I am still unable to believe. Sachin Tendulkar has always been a role model for me. When I was younger, I used to see him. He is a true veteran of the game and I got a chance to play many times against him.”

Pataudi Trophy will end

Till now, the winner of the Indo-England Test series in England was given the Pataudi Trophy, which was started in 2007. The trophy was launched in memory of the completion of 75 years of the first Test match between India and England and was named in honor of the Pataudi family. Two members of this family – Ektikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and Mansoor Ali Khan have been the captain of Pataudi – India.

New Trophy: Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy

It is now being told that this time the series will be played in the name of “Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy” instead of the Pataudi Trophy. This change has been made to honor great players like Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson, who have made a long and great contribution to their respective teams.

Sunil Gavaskar expressed resentment

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar is not happy with this change. He said that removing the Pataudi Trophy is a wrong step. In his article, Gavaskar wrote, “This news is going to disturb. The Pataudi family has made a big contribution in both India and England cricket and it is to be ignored to remove this trophy.”

Two veterans face to face

Sachin Tendulkar played 200 Tests between 1989 and 2013 and is still the biggest run scorer of Test cricket by scoring 15,921 runs. At the same time, James Anderson is England’s most successful bowler and is the highest wicket -taking fast bowler in Tests. He has taken 704 wickets so far. Anderson has dismissed Sachin 9 times in 14 Tests, which is the most often against Tendulkar by any bowler.
