Delhi: England’s 50 leading cricket players are considering boycotting next year’s ‘The Hundred’ competition due to the new No Objection Certificate (NOC) policy of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Under this rule of the board, players will require NOC to participate in franchise tournaments.

According to ‘The Telegraph’ report, the ECB has recently decided that they will not issue NOCs for foreign tournaments whose dates clash with their domestic cricket season. However, exemption will be given to those players who have only limited overs cricket contracts with their county teams.

IPL gets exemption, other leagues affected

The report said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) is not included in the list of foreign leagues mandatory for NOC, while the name of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is included. It is believed that NOC will not be issued for any tournament matching the dates of Vitality Blast and The Hundred.

Due to the new policy of ECB next year, leagues like Major League Cricket (America), Global T20 League (Canada), Lanka Premier League and Caribbean Premier League may also be affected. According to the report, more leagues are likely to be included in this list.
