Delhi: England star fast bowler Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series and upcoming T20 series against West Indies. Oveton suffered this injury during the first ODI, when he fractured the right finger of the right hand while trying to catch a catch on his second ball.

However, even after the injury, overton returned to the field and took 3 wickets for 22 runs in five overs, which is the best ODI performance of his career so far. England won the match by a big margin of 238 runs.

On Saturday, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement saying, “Jamie overton has been eliminated from the rest of ODIs and T20 matches against the West Indies due to fracture in the right small finger.”

ECB also clarified that no new player would be added to the team instead of overtus, neither for the second ODI in Cardiff on Sunday, nor for the third ODI at The Oval on Tuesday, nor for the three -match T20 series starting in Durham from June 6.

England confirmed that only one change has been made for the second ODI to be played in Sophia Gardens (Cardiff). Matthew Pots (which are already part of the squad) have been included in the playing XI instead of overtus.

In the first ODI, England led by new limited overs captain Harry Brook performed brilliantly and allotted the West Indies for 162 runs within 27 overs. Seeing the brilliant performance of fast bowlers, Sajid Mahmood and Bridan Cars will also get a chance to play the next match.
