Delhi: Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj has been facing criticism due to his performance for some time. In the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, Siraj has taken 13 wickets in seven innings, but he has not been successful in putting pressure on the opposition batsmen, due to which more responsibility has fallen on Jasprit Bumrah.

On this, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar expressed disappointment and said that the team management should tell Siraj why his performance is not good and what steps should be taken to improve it.

Siraj has taken 14 wickets in the first three matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, but most of the time the batsmen have scored easily against him. He has not been impressive even with the new ball and his performance this time has been weak compared to his last tour. Despite this, the team management has given him a chance to play in the fourth consecutive match.

Sunil Gavaskar believes, “Siraj may need a break, but instead he should be told directly that his performance was not as per expectations and that is why he is being dropped from the team. When you talk about rest, players think that there is no need to improve their game. He also said that Siraj should be explained that even on helpful pitches, he is not able to make as much impact in his bowling as is expected.

Gavaskar also suggested that if the team needs to make changes, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana should be given a chance to support Bumrah.
