Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, questions are being raised about the quality of Hindi commentary. Recently, a fan released a video on social media and expressed displeasure over the current Hindi commentary. He said that earlier Maninder Singh, Arun Lal and Sushil Doshi, such as the commentary of veterans, used to help in understanding the technical aspects of the game, but now most of the Shero-Shayari or old stories are narrated in the commentary.
In the video, Fan said, “Watching the match in Hindi commentary is becoming difficult day by day. When he used to listen to the commentary, there was a chance to understand the nuances of the game. Fielding setup, bowler’s strategy and technical aspects were discussed, but now all this has disappeared.”
Giving an example, he said that during a match, he was heard in the commentary, “Guru, the ball is in such a place that the bone will not be broken.” At the same time, referring to a funny comment related to New Zealand’s Tom Latham and India’s Ravindra Jadeja in the Champions Trophy match, Fan said, “If New Zealand has Tom (Latham), we have Jerry (Jadeja). Whenever Tom runs away, Jerry holds him.”
The fan clarified that his displeasure is not from any particular commentator, but he only wants Hindi commentary as much as it used to be before. He said, “All commentators are veteran of Indian cricket, but if they do not teach us the nuances of the game, then who will teach us?”
On this criticism of the fan, former Indian off -spinner and current Hindi commentator Harbhajan Singh said, “Thank you for the input… we will work on it.”
It is worth noting that this time in the Hindi commentary panel, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammad Kaif, Piyush Chawla, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Sanjay Manjrekar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Sanjay Bangar, Varun Aron, Sunil Gavaskar, Ajay Jade, Ajay Jade Tyagi, Saba Karim, Deep Dasgupta and Akash Chopra are included.
Amidst controversies, IPL 2025 has started tremendous, and the exciting match of the tournament is entertaining the audience.
