Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner and Dabur India chairman Mohit Burman believes that if the Indian Premier League (IPL) is to be made like the world’s largest sports leagues like NFL and NBA, its season will have to be increased by 12 to 16 weeks. He said that even though the IPL is second in terms of earning per match, its total brand value is still behind leagues like NFL.
Long season will give better stories and rivalry

He also said that IPL should strengthen its identity not in abroad, but within India. According to him, IPL is already the largest league of cricket, but to stay on top, constant hard work is necessary.

Burman supported the IPL team owners’ decision to invest in other foreign leagues such as CPL, LT20 and The Hundred. They believe that this creates a uniform identity of the brand and it helps in long term growth.
