Delhi: Former Australian cricketer Michael Slater has been sentenced to 4 years in jail. However, 55 -year -old Slater is now released from jail, as he was already in custody for more than a year. Slater admitted 7 allegations, including allegations of domestic violence. Slater was accused of attack, strangling, theft and chasing against a woman in Nusa region at the end of 2023.
While sentencing, Judge Glenn Cash said that the root of the problems of the slater is clear. He said in the court, “This is absolutely clear, Mr. Slater that you are alcoholic. Unfortunately, your alcohol addiction has ended your career. Your rehab process will not be easy, because alcohol addiction has become a part of your habits.”
Slater was arrested in April 2024 and was accused of 19 crimes, including illegal chase, physical damage attack, and strangling or strangling. All these allegations were related to the alleged incidents on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. Earlier, in 2022 too, he was found guilty of attack and intimidation in a case of domestic violence and placed under a two-year community reform order.
Significantly, Slater played 74 Test matches for Australia, in which he scored 5312 runs and scored 14 centuries. Apart from this, he also participated in 42 ODIs for the country.
