Delhi: Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden said on Sunday that Punjab Kings (PBKS) batsman Prabhasimran Singh reminds him of 2010 young MS Dhoni. Prabhasimran performed a bang against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala and scored a stormy innings of 91 runs in just 48 balls, leading Punjab to score 236 runs at the loss of 5 wickets.
Prabhasimran used the crease in the best way, played shots all around and carried on his innings brilliantly. He hit 6 fours and 7 sixes and played Shashank Singh well in the death overs.
During the match, Hayden told Star Sports that Prabhasimran’s ability to hit sixes reminds him of MS Dhoni. He recalled Dhoni’s 54* (29 ball) run innings against Kings XI Punjab in 2010, in which he finished the match by scoring 16 runs against Irfan Pathan in the final over.
Hayden said, “He has a great force. In 2010 there was a young MS Dhoni, who used to send the balls away in the last over. Prabhasimran also has the same features. His bat speed is fantastic, the base is strong. He is not too long, so he can play the ball well in gaps and fearless.”
He further said, “You can see how he pressurized the bowlers against LSG. He was completely under control and was forcing the bowlers to make a mistake.”
