Delhi: Former veteran all -rounder Dwayne Bravo has expressed displeasure over the decision by Cricket West Indies (CWI) to remove Rovman Powell from the post of T20 captain. Bravo believes that Powell performed brilliantly as a captain and the decision to remove him is unfair. Recently, Cricket West Indies appointed Shai Hope as the new T20 captain in place of Powell.
Under Powell’s captaincy, West Indies won a home series against strong teams like India, England and South Africa in T20 format. Apart from this, the team led by him reached the super eight phase of the T20 World Cup last year and traveled from ninth to fifth place in the ICC T20 rankings. As captain, Powell won 19 out of 37 matches.
Dwayne Bravo, who is currently a mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2025, criticized the Cricket West Indies’ decision through social media. He accused the board of doing injustice to the players and said that this is a wrong decision for the team.
Bravo wrote on Instagram, “Cricket West Indies once again showed that injustice to the players is going on. As a former player and a fan of West Indies cricket, I can say that this is a very poor decision.”
He further said, “Powells took over the command of the team when we were ninth in the T20 rankings, and three places under his leadership improved. But, instead they were removed from the captaincy. How long will such a behavior continue with the players?”
After this statement by Bravo, discussions on the decision of the West Indies Cricket Board have intensified, and fans are also giving their reactions to this decision. It is known that Bravo has played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
