Former England captain demands new Test cricket rules from ICC: After Pant’s injury.

Delhi: On the first day of the ongoing Manchester Test match between India and England, the visiting team suffered a major setback when the team’s star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant was injured. Pant had to leave the ground due to the ball in the leg and was immediately rushed to the hospital. This incident increased the concern of not only the Indian camp but also, the fans.

Chris Woakes injured

The incident took place in the 68th over of the match, when Rishabh Pant tried to play reverse sweep on the full length ball of England fast bowler Chris Woakes. The ball went straight on his leg and he immediately appeared in pain. After this, he was not in a position to walk, due to which he was taken out of the field with the help of golf cart. Pant scored 37 runs in 48 balls with the help of 2 fours and 1 six and became ‘retired heart’.

First day score

By the end of the first day’s play, India had scored 264 runs at the loss of four wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur were standing at the crease after scoring 19-19 runs respectively.

Michael Vaughan demands full subsidy in Test cricket

After Rishabh Pant’s injury, former England captain Michael Vaughan has advocated bringing a new rule in Test cricket. He said that in the event of serious injury like Pant, the team should get a full substitute permission.

In a conversation with the BBC, Won said, “I do not like it at all that a four -day game is yet to be played and in such a great Test series, one team will play with 11 and 10 players. I think the time has come to allow the substitute for serious injections other than concentration in Test cricket, especially in the first innings.”

‘Pain hurts, should get a subsidy’

Michael Vaughan further said that when a player’s bone breaks or muscle bursting, it is clear that the player is not in a position to return to the game. He said, “It is very clear that in such injuries, the player is really in trouble and it is not possible to let him play further. In such a situation, the team should get a full subsidy.”
