Delhi: The limited overs T20 and then 3-match ODI series is starting between India and England from January 22. After losing the Test series against New Zealand and Australia, the Indian team is now eyeing a good performance in limited overs cricket.
Questions may be raised on Gambhir’s ability
In this series, once again questions may be raised on the ability of head coach Gautam Gambhir, because he has been facing criticism in recent times. However, England coach Brendon McCullum has praised Gambhir’s leadership and is confident that Gambhir will help the Indian team perform well.
Gambhir and McCullum have worked together
Gambhir and McCullum have worked together in IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). McCullum believes that Gambhir is an excellent leader and will play his role well. He said, “I have worked with Gautam Gambhir and he is a great leader. Whenever he was given any responsibility, he performed it well and gave good results. Although, he is now joining the team, but I am sure that he will perform to the best of his ability. England will have to adopt a new strategy to defeat us, because our playing style is also similar to theirs.”
Brendon McCullum said, “Gautam Gambhir is an outstanding leader. He’s a really strong leader of men, and in every leadership position he’s held, he has excelled. He’ll bring the best out of the talent at his disposal”. pic.twitter.com/NHq2Sn6enW

Gambhir is against ‘star culture’
Ever since Gambhir took over as coach, he has been against the ‘star culture’ in the team. Recently there were reports that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a 10-point policy for the players. However, there are some people who have raised questions on Gambhir’s coaching style. During Gambhir’s tenure, India has lost 6 out of 10 test matches.
