Gautam Gambhir talked to Cheteshwar Pujara before team selection for England tour: The batsman disclosed

Delhi: The five -match Test series between India and England will start from June 20. For this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team. Cheteshwar Pujara was not given a chance in this team, who had been running out of Team India for the last two years. While after the retirement of senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, it was hoped that Pujara could return, but it did not happen. Now Pujara has spoken on this.

What did Cheteshwar Pujara say?

In an interview to The Lalantop, Pujara was asked whether he received a call from head coach Gautam Gambhir before being selected in the team. To this, Pujara said, “No, I did not get any call. Yes, I am ready to return to the Test team. If I get a chance, it would be a matter of respect for me to play for the country. As a player you feel that as long as you are fit and are doing well in domestic cricket, you are entitled to get a chance. I would be very happy if I get a chance.”

Pujara is running out for two years

Pujara played the last Test match for India in the World Test Championship final in 2023. He has been running out of the team since then. He continuously played domestic and county cricket, but despite this he did not get a place in the team again. Pujara is currently 37 years old and has scored 7195 runs in 103 Tests so far and has also scored 19 centuries. Along with the series between India and England, Shubman Gill will lead the Test team as a captain for the first time.
