Delhi: In the midst of the Pahgam terror attack, there has been news of threatening to kill India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir via email. Delhi Police gave this information on Thursday.
Threatened emails met two days ago, ie on April 22, on the same day when terrorists attacked tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Many tourists, including some foreign nationals, died in this attack, where 26 citizens lost their lives in indiscriminate firing of terrorists. This is considered to be the second most frightening terrorist incident after the 2019 Pulwama attack.
DCP M Harsh Vardhan said in a statement, “We have received information about alleged threats on an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The case is being investigated.”
The official further said, “Gautam Gambhir already has the security of Delhi Police, and we do not make special comments on his security arrangements.”
According to police sources, former BJP MP Gautam Gambhir has received two emails sent under the name “ISIS Kashmir”, in which it was written, “I Kill You”, which means that I will kill you. A complaint has also been sent to Rajendra Nagar Police Station with screenshots of threatened email.
The complaint wrote, “Respected sir, Namaskar, as we talked, please see Gautam Gambhir (former MP), Head Coach, Indian Cricket Team ‘Threatened Mail’ below. Please file an FIR and ensure family safety.”
Gambhir condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday. He wrote on his X (former Twitter) handle, “I pray for the families of the dead, who are responsible for this, they will have to pay the price, India will reply.” #Pahalgam “
This is not the first time Gambhir has been threatened. In 2022 too, he received such threats, after which his security was tightened.
