Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently at the top of the points table in 2025 and in this strong beginning, star fast bowler Mohammad Siraj is a big hand. Siraj has taken 11 wickets in 7 matches so far this season and he is the third highest wicket -taker of the team. He is also at number seven in the Purple Cap race. His economy rate is 8.96 and he has also taken 4 wickets in a match.
When GT faced RCB, Siraj performed brilliantly against the old team in his old home ground Bangalore itself. He took only 19 runs with 3 wickets and became the ‘Player of the Match’.
Siraj told the difference between GT and RCB
In an interview, Siraj told how his time was with RCB and what difference did he feel after coming to GT. He said, “When I was in RCB, I knew how to bowl on a small ground like Chinnaswamy. I started targeting the stumps directly instead of trying more. It also gave me wickets and did not leak runs.”
He further said, “I lived 7 years in RCB. I saw a lot. Virat Bhai always supported me. Sometimes my performance also went down. But, in a season I bowled with a 7.52 economy. Then I started enjoying my bowling. I spent good time in RCB.”
Siraj said about GT, “Coach Ashu Bhai (Ashish Nehra) here knew me in advance. He gave me freedom. The atmosphere of the team is quite relaxed. It is very important for a player. When the coach says ‘You just enjoy the bowling’, the confidence increases.”
Significantly, GT bought Siraj in the mega auction last year for Rs 12.25 lakh. Siraj made his IPL debut in 2018 from Sunrisers Hyderabad, and then joined the RCB in the same year. Everyone was surprised when RCB released him this time before the mega auction and after that he came to GT.
