IPL team Gujarat Titans has given a big surprise to its fans before the upcoming season. Actually, after Hardik Pandya left the team, Shubman Gill was given the captaincy of the team last season. In his first IPL season as captain, Shubman Gill did not captain anything special.

Although most people might be thinking that Shubman Gill will obviously once again captain Gujarat Titans in the upcoming season of IPL, but the franchise is planning a surprise for its fans.

Rashid Khan will get captaincy in place of Shubman Gill

Actually, Rashid Khan is in the tweet and ‘2025 GT Story’ is written in the picture. Also, the tweet is captioned, “A clean slate. A new story.’

Rashid Khan will be the new captain of Gujarat Titans!

Although nothing can be confirmed yet, this tweet is enough to believe that there could be a big announcement regarding the captaincy.

GT had retained both the players for IPL 2025

Let us tell you that Rashid Khan was the biggest retention of Titans before the IPL 2025 auction as the team paid Rs 18 crore to retain him with the team. On the other hand, Shubhman Gill was retained for Rs 16.5 crore.

Rashid Khan has captained the franchise twice

Rashid Khan has also had the privilege of leading GT twice. His captaincy in IPL started against CSK in the 2022 season. Rashid had talked about his experience of captaining Gujarat Titans in a podcast and had said-

“It was a special match because it was my first match as captain in the IPL and that too during Ramzan. I woke up at 3 am for Sehri, I got a message from Ashish Nehra which read, ‘Khan Saheb get ready. Hardik probably will not play because he is not well. It was a dream for me to captain Gujarat.”
