Kapil Dev, who won the historic World Cup against West Indies in 1983, was a great all-rounder. Kapil Dev is India’s most successful Test fast bowler. He had taken 434 wickets during his career, which is still an unbreakable and important record.
Most test wickets in a year
Kapil Dev also made the record of taking most Test wickets in a year in 1983. That year he took 75 Test wickets.
The only Indian to take the most runs and wickets in a series
Kapil Dev is the only Indian to set this record by taking 32 wickets and scoring 278 runs in the Test series of 1979-80 Pakistan tour and this record still remains intact.
Record of 5000 runs and 400 wickets
Kapil Dev is the first and only Indian player to score more than 5000 runs and take more than 400 wickets in Test cricket.

Kapil Dev played 131 matches in his 16-year test career. During this period, he scored 5248 runs at an average of 31.05 and took 434 wickets. He also has 8 centuries and 27 half-centuries to his name. In Test cricket, he took 5 wickets in an innings 23 times and 10 wickets in a match twice. Kapil Dev’s contribution will always be remembered in Indian cricket.
