Delhi: South African wicketkeeper-batsman Henrik Klassen has said goodbye to international cricket. Klassen, who made her debut in the year 2018, gave information about her retirement through social media.

A difficult decision was to retire

Klassen said in his statement that it was very difficult for him to take this decision. He said, “Today is a very emotional day for me because I have decided to withdraw from international cricket. This decision has been taken for the future of me and my family. This decision was definitely difficult, but now I am feeling completely peaceful.”

Klassen heartily thanked the coaches and colleagues who supported in his career. He said, “I have created many good friends and relationships during cricket, which I will remember all my life. Playing for South Africa has been the biggest honor for me.”

Klassen also said that his journey to reach the team was different from others and some coaches always maintained trust in him. He wrote, “Playing by wearing a protiaz jersey has been the biggest pride of my career.”

Klassen’s identity was made for his special ‘whip-pull’ shot against Spin bowlers. He was a dangerous batsman in all formats for the team. He recently participated in the 2023 ODI World Cup, 2024 T20 World Cup and 2025 Champions Trophy.

Heinrich Klassen represented South Africa in a total of 122 international matches. He scored 2141 runs in 60 ODIs, with his highest score of 174 and average was 43.69. He scored 1000 runs in T20 international matches, with his best 81 runs and the strike rate was 141.84.

Retired from the first test

Klassen retired from Test cricket in January 2024 earlier. He played only 4 matches in Test format.
