Delhi: Team India’s star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was a victim of a terrible road accident in December 2022. While going from Delhi to his home, his car collided with the divider and got engulfed in flames, overturning. Pant was seriously injured in this accident and his life was no less than a miracle.
If blood flow had stopped, the legs could be cut
Doctor Dinshaw Pardiwala, who performed Pant’s surgery, said in a conversation with ‘Telegraph’ that Pant’s life was saved and his leg was safe, there were two big miracles. He said, “When the knee bone is removed from its place and all the ligaments are torn, then there is a risk of damage to the vein or blood tube. If the supply of blood was stopped, the legs could have to be lost in 4 to 6 hours. Fortunately the vein of Pant did not harm.”
Will i be able to play again?
Dr. Pardiwala told that when Pant reached the hospital, his first question was – “Will I be able to play cricket again?” The doctor told him that his injuries are very serious and will have to rebuild the entire right knee.
Step to return slowly
Dr. Pardiwala said that he promised Pant that he would definitely make him worthy of running again and will try his best to return to cricket. Initially, Pant was not given much expectations, but he was carried forward with trust and hard work on every step. He said, “The first miracle is that you are alive, the second is that your feet are left. If you play cricket again, this will be the third miracle.”
Tremendous comeback in cricket
After surgery and 16 months long recovery, Rishabh Pant returned to the ground in IPL 2024 and scored 446 runs in 13 matches. After this, he got a place in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024 and India won that tournament.
Dual century in Test and gift of sub-week
Pant also made a great comeback in Test cricket. In the first Test against England, he scored a century in both innings and he became the second wicketkeeper of India to do so. Along with this, he was also made the new vice-captain of the team.
