Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 saw a moment that surprised everyone. At the age of just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and played a 101 -run innings in 38 balls against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Rajasthan Royals team manager Romi Bhinder told in an interview that how Vaibhav’s fate turned into just 6 balls. He told that when Vaibhav was just 13 years old, he was called for trial. At that time Rahul Dravid, Zubin Bharucha and Vikram Rathore were also present there.
Bhinder said, “When Vaibhav played the first over, we understood that this child is something special. After that Rahul Bhai and Jubin told me that keep an eye on it. Talk to his parents. Even if we do not take this year, but it is important to keep it under our supervision.” Fortunately Rajasthan bought him in auction and then for three months he stayed with the team at the High Performance Center in Nagpur.
How was the test of splendor?
Bhinder said that during the trial, Vaibhav was given the task of playing in the powerplay. He was faced with different speeds and types of bowlers. The team wanted to see how he plays under pressure. It was already believed that there is talent in Vaibhav, but its preparation was necessary for a big stage like IPL.
During this, batting coach Vikram Rathore worked hard with him. At the same time, Rahul Dravid and Zubin Bharucha also further enhanced his technology.
Significantly, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already been a part of India’s Under-19 team and he has also scored a century against Australia. But, performing such a big performance at such a young age on stage like IPL is a big thing for any player.
