Delhi: Indian team’s young all-rounder Nitish Reddy has given a befitting reply to the critics. He said that he wanted to prove wrong all those who had questioned his abilities in Test cricket. Nitish rescued the Indian team from a difficult situation by scoring a century in his first innings of the fourth Test against Australia. He played an inning of 114 runs, due to which India was saved from the danger of follow-on.

Decision on Rohit Sharma’s retirement may come soon, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar reached Melbourne

Some veteran players, including former chief selector MSK Prasad, had raised questions about Nitish’s place in the Test team. These experts believed that Nitish was not fit for Test cricket, but Nitish silenced the critics by scoring 293 runs in six innings. He is being praised a lot after his century at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

After the end of the fourth day’s play, Nitish said, “Many people were doubting me, especially thinking that a young IPL player would not be able to perform in such a big series. I wanted to show them that their views were wrong. My aim is to give my 100 percent for the Indian team and prove that I can contribute to the team with my performance here.”

When asked how the last one month has changed his life, Nitish said, “For you it may be only a month or two, but for me it is the hard work of the last two-three years. After the first season of IPL, I realized that I had to improve my batting. I made a plan and worked hard on my batting in the time I got between sessions. Today is the result of that hard work.”

Recalling the sacrifice of his father Mutyalu, Nitish said, “My father served in the central government for 25 years, when I had not even played at the state level, my father was the first one to believe in me. He left his job for me and always supported me. He used to take me to the field and gym. It is difficult to describe their sacrifices in words. This century is very special for him and me.”
