I will try to improve next time: Sai Sudarshan’s batting ‘mantra’

Delhi: Indian batsman Sai Sudarshan described the secret of his mental preparation ahead of the fourth Test match against England in Manchester. He said that shadow batting is part of his daily routine and this helps them to keep themselves mentally ready before the match.

Shadow batting on the field before the match

Sai Sudarshan got a chance in this test instead of Karun Nair and he took full advantage of it. Before the match started, he was seen batting shadow on the field. During this time, he was preparing himself by imagining himself in the position of the match.

Half -century in the first match

Sudarshan, who came out to bat at number three in India’s innings, hit a brilliant half -century in his first Test. He scored 61 runs off 151 balls which included seven fours. His innings was full of peace and confidence.

Shadow batting brings mental strength

After the first day of the match is over, Sudarshan said in the press conference, “I do shadow batting every day. It has become my habit. Whenever you get a chance, I do it. It helps me to be mentally prepared.”

Disappointed with wrong shot disappointed

However, he looked a bit disappointed about the end of his innings. He said that he was out of the top edge in an attempt to play a pull shot off Ben Stokes, and Bridan Cars caught his easy catch. Sudarshan said that the ball was bounced more than the pavilion and which was causing problems for the batsmen.

“I will try to do better”

Sai said, “I am satisfied with my innings but disappointed with the way out. I will try to play better next time. Some balls from the pavilion and were taking extra bounce and it could be more challenging in the days.”

India’s strong start

By the end of the first day’s play, India had lost four wickets for 264 runs. Sudarshan was the top scorer of the day. Apart from him, Yashasvi Jaiswal played 58 and KL Rahul played important innings of 46 runs.
