Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has banned America’s National Cricket League (NCL). ICC wrote a letter to United States of America Cricket (USAC), in which it was decided not to sanction future editions of this league. Many other issues including non-compliance with playing eleven rules have been cited in the letter.
AUS vs IND: Australia defeated India by 10 wickets in the second test match, leveled the series.
The last season of NCL was held between 4 to 14 October. This season, Chicago CC, captained by Robin Uthappa, won the title by defeating Atlanta Kings by 43 runs. The trophy was presented to the winning team by the great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
violation of rules
- playing eleven rulesAccording to ICC, there should be at least 7 American players in the playing eleven of every team, but in many matches the teams included 6-7 foreign players.
- bad pitches: Drop-in pitches were used in the matches, which were very poor. The condition of these pitches was so bad that fast bowlers like Wahab Riaz and Tymal Mills had to bowl spin so that the batsmen did not get hurt.
- violation of visa rules: League officials broke US immigration rules to include foreign players. Many players joined without sports visa, thereby saving a huge amount of money.
Veterans Partnership
To enhance its reputation, NCL had appointed Wasim Akram and Vivian Richards as brand ambassadors. Along with this, Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar were added to their management group.
