5 out of 15 matches will be outside Pakistan
According to media reports, ICC has planned that all the matches of the Indian team, including the final, will be held in UAE. An ICC source told PTI, “All parties have agreed that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan and UAE. India will play all its matches in Dubai. This is a beneficial decision for everyone.” A total of 15 matches are to be played in the Champions Trophy. Of these, there is a plan to hold the Indian team’s group stage matches, both the knockout matches and the final in UAE.
Final can be held in Lahore also
If the Indian team does not reach the final, then the final match can be held in Lahore. However, in case the Indian team reaches the final, this match will be played in Dubai.
Hybrid model will last till 2027
In the ICC meeting held last week, the PCB withdrew its threat to boycott the tournament and agreed to the hybrid model. PCB had demanded to adopt this model till 2031, but ICC approved to implement it only till 2027. During this time, India will host the Men’s T20 World Cup along with Sri Lanka in 2026.
The meeting lasted for a few minutes
The ICC meeting held on 5 December lasted only a few minutes. During this time, there was discussion about repeatedly postponing the schedule of the tournament. The ICC made it clear that the PCB had no option but to accept the hybrid model, and the PCB finally agreed to it. Now after the meeting on December 7, the schedule and other information of the tournament will be announced officially.
