Delhi: After India’s refusal to tour Pakistan, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has sought a response from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on hosting the ICC Champions Trophy in a hybrid model. On Sunday (November 12), the PCB confirmed that it had received an email from the ICC, informing it of India’s decision not to tour Pakistan.

‘Why are you not coming to Pakistan?’, Suryakumar Yadav gave a befitting reply to fan’s question

According to sources, if PCB withdraws from hosting, then the tournament can be organized in South Africa, which can cause a big loss to Pakistan cricket. ICC has assured PCB that even in the hybrid model, it will get the full hosting fees and most of the matches. India has not toured Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and the two teams face each other only in ICC tournaments.

According to sources, under the current plan, India’s matches can be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the final in Dubai, provided the PCB does not withdraw from hosting. BCCI has told ICC that the hybrid model will be acceptable only if the final is held in Dubai instead of Pakistan.

PCB did not respond to this decision of BCCI till Monday. The ICC has sought confirmation from the PCB whether they will accept the hybrid model, in which India’s matches and the final will be held in Dubai.

South Africa can become alternative host

If the PCB withdraws from hosting, the tournament may shift to South Africa. PCB has already clarified that there has been no discussion on the hybrid model yet.
