Delhi: There is no longer left for the Champions Trophy 2025 to start, but it is becoming a big challenge for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to complete the renewal of stadiums on time. According to a report by Pakistan’s leading newspaper ‘Don’, it seems “almost impossible” to complete the work of stadiums within the deadline for PCB. The question has arisen whether Pakistan will be fully prepared to host this big tournament?
Will PCB be able to fulfill the promise?
PCB has invested heavy to upgrade stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. However, as soon as the deadline of 31 January comes, the pressure on the board is increasing to prepare the promised world class stadium.
In addition to the Champions Trophy in these stadiums, some matches of the triangular series (including New Zealand and South Africa) will also be played from 8 to 14 February. The first two matches of this series will be played in Lahore and the last two matches, (including the finals), in Karachi.
According to a source, “matches can be held in the stadium, but PCB promised to provide world class facilities. Will he be able to fulfill his promise, it remains to be seen? “
Delay in required permissions
Bilal Chauhan, a prominent person associated with the renewal work, expressed displeasure over the delay in equipment and necessary permissions. He said, “The panels of the new building of Karachi Stadium were released on Sunday night after a long approval and his installation started on Monday.”
PCB has spent about 12 billion Pakistani rupees on renewal of these three stadiums. Although the sale of tickets has already started, but until PCB officially announces that the stadiums are ready, the doubt will remain.
